For 35 years, Linda Wortman worked for Northwest Airlines as a Flight Attendant, Instructor, Safety & Health Representative, & Government Affairs Chair. Her most memorable flight was meeting her husband Jerry, a pilot. Her favorite flight was serving His Holiness the Dali Lama. She loved serving others and received recognition from the Department of Defense. Linda served as a dedicated volunteer in several community organizations, including public and private school systems. She spoke publicly about the true meaning of family and their four children when crowned Mrs. Minnesota USA 1992-93. For the past 40 years, the Wortmans have made Mayo Clinic their base for health care. During a routine physical in 2008 Linda, who never smoked, was diagnosed and underwent surgery for Stage 1 Lung Cancer. Linda set a new goal of running a 5k race in all 50 states to raise awareness for medical research. She has 10 states left to win.
